Self care can be one of the most challenging aspects of healing work for survivors of trauma. Traumatic experiences impact all of who we are, leaving isolation, disconnection, harm and maladaptive patterns in its wake. This workshop will help you create new patterns of self care in all aspects of your being. Yoga, body awareness, creativity, meditation, and connection with the natural world will be some of the many paths to healing that will be explored. Reclaiming Ourselves Through the Way of the Horse September 29th, & 30th
2 day workshop for women trauma survivors No experience with horses is required
Location: Anahata Horse Centre, Bancroft, Ontario
Horses are natural teachers of embodiment, boundaries, relationships and fluid emotions. Like us they have had extensive histories of violence and trauma perpetuated largely by humans. Trauma steals our lives from us with stories untold and wounds unhealed. The horses can show us how to reclaim our physical bodies, know where we begin and others end and offer us a model for intimacy in relationship that can transform our lives. As prey animals horses are emotionally sensitive and keenly aware of their environment, these sensitivities make them ideal teachers for humans who often conceal emotional information and struggle with presence and authenticity.
